Biography April Driggers is a singer/songwriter from the Piney Woods of East Texas. She makes her home in Lakeside, TX with her husband and three girls. Music has always been a big part of April’s life. Her first stage performance was at the age of seven in her home church. Although she spent the next few years in the country music scene traveling to local Opry houses, county fairs, even as far as Nashville, Tennessee to chase the dream of becoming the next great country female recording artist. However, she never lost her love for Gospel music. After fifteen years, April finally decided it was time to stop running from what God was calling her to do. The release of “Where I Am” is not only a new chapter in her singing career, but a new direction in her spiritual walk. “I spent so many years not doing what God was telling me to do. Now, I feel like my spirit and drive have been renewed. There is no better feeling than knowing that you’ve made the right decision.” There are eleven cuts on the album, two of which were penned by April. “I have always said that I am not a songwriter, but when we started working on this album, it was like a bolt of lightening hit me.” With the help of producer Jeff Taylor and musician Nick Jay, April wrote “Where I Am” and “What I’ve Learned”. “The titles to both tracks speak volumes about this album. What I learned about salvation came from hearing old hymns in church and this is exactly where I am in my walk with Christ. The old hymns on this album along with the ones I wrote helped create the person that I am today.” When asked what will be next on the agenda, April’s answer is simple. “Whatever God leads me to do is what will be next. This is His show and I will do what he tells me to do.” |
